1. Identity and purpose

SOS Fauna España is an independent tool providing guidance and support for members of the public dealing with wildlife incidents in Spain.
Its purpose is to help assess common situations, provide basic recommendations and prepare the information needed to contact the responsible services or centres.
SOS Fauna España does not represent, and is not part of, any public authority, emergency service, body of officers, wildlife rescue centre or organisation mentioned in the app.

2. Information for guidance only

The information provided by SOS Fauna España is general and intended for guidance only. It does not replace assessment by specialist professionals, veterinary services or instructions from the responsible authorities and services.
Different situations may require different responses. If there is an immediate risk to people or animals, the user must contact the emergency services or the responsible organisation.

3. Scope of the app

SOS Fauna España currently focuses on the most common wildlife incidents, covering land animals, birds and marine wildlife.
The content and wildlife groups covered may be expanded or changed in future updates.

4. User responsibility

The user is responsible for assessing the particular circumstances before acting and for following instructions from the relevant services.
Handling wildlife can pose risks to both animals and people. An animal should not be captured, moved or handled unless it is necessary and can be done safely.

5. Limitation of liability

SOS Fauna España aims to keep its content up to date and provide useful, understandable information. However, it cannot guarantee that all information, telephone numbers, links or external resources will remain available or up to date at all times.
The user is responsible for their use of the app and for decisions made on the basis of its content.
SOS Fauna España accepts no responsibility for the content, availability or actions of external services, websites or organisations linked to or mentioned in the app.

6. Intellectual property

The texts, design, structure, logo and other original elements of SOS Fauna España are protected by applicable intellectual property law.
They may not be reproduced, modified or used for commercial purposes without permission, except where permitted by law.

7. External links

The app may include links to public bodies, wildlife rescue centres, specialist organisations and other information resources.
These links are provided solely to help the user find appropriate resources. SOS Fauna España does not control, and is not responsible for, the content or operation of external websites.

8. Changes

This legal notice may be updated when the project's features, content or circumstances change.
The date of the latest update will be shown at the top of this page.

Before picking up a wild animal

Not every animal you find needs rescuing. Unnecessary handling or relocation can cause harm and, for certain protected species, these actions may be regulated by current legislation.
If you are unsure, it is best to observe the situation, follow SOS Fauna España's recommendations and contact the responsible wildlife rescue centre or public service before intervening.
Helping also means knowing when to leave an animal alone.

9. Contact

To report errors, suggest corrections or ask questions about SOS Fauna España, please use the contact method provided in the app.
